Julie Heller Gallery

Julie Heller East, in its fourth season, offers the opportunity to continue celebrating Provincetown as the oldest continuous art colony in the United States. Gallery owner and art historian Julie Heller has been advising private collectors, museums and one-time visitors for more than 30 years at her downtown gallery at 2 Gosnold Street. Both galleries feature an eclectic mix of Provincetown modernists, impressionists and social realists, and the work of contemporary emerging and established talent. The gallery on the beach is the former site of the Provincetown Playhouse, box office and museum.

Past artists on display at the gallery include those who are related to Provincetown and its rich history such as Charles Hawthorne; the gallery also has estates of some artists such as Lucy L’Engle, Betty Lane, and Sol Wilson; then they also have collections of other artists such as Harold Baumbach, Joseph Garlock, Jan Gelb, and Adelaide Lawson Gaylor. Contemporaries represented by the Julie Heller Gallery range from emerging to established and include artists such as Robert Dente, Nick Patten, Sandy Deacon, Mary Giammarino, Carole Ann Danner, Judy Friday, Heather Bruce, and dozens of others.

Among the upcoming shows at Julie Heller East are Heather Bruce and M.J. Levy-Dickson from July 6 to 19; and Leo Manso from July 20 through August 2.
